Wear a mask (2020)
"Wear a mask, may your family live long and prosper"
Mid-July 2020, when Bucharest was struggling with implementing Covid mask- and distancing rules, many of the city's outdoor advertising were still left blank after the spring lockdown.
This poster was my idea of a response to the government's lack of effective, straightforward communication, the community's inertia and the city's overall lethargy. The english translation is approximate - the second part of the sentence has particular local resonance, of street vocabulary to some degree.
Both the poster and the fictional outdoor simulation gathered 600+ shares on social media in a couple of days, with many voices, including journalists and influencers, praising the authenticity of the message as well as the humor, which were a stark contrast to what the government was doing everywhere. It seemed the kind of communication we couldn't have, but would've need it.
